Ketu North MP Edem Agbana has praised President John Dramani Mahama for not only presenting the true state of the economy but also outlining bold plans to address the country’s challenges.
Speaking in Parliament, Agbana criticized the ruling government for failing to acknowledge the policy measures Mahama proposed.
“President Mahama did not only give us the picture of the economy that he inherited, but he was also generous to the good people of Ghana by providing a comprehensive plan to address the challenges he encountered,” he stated.
He particularly emphasized Mahama’s plan to improve governance, stating that under the current administration, state institutions had been undermined by partisanship.
“For the last eight years under the NPP government, we have witnessed the bastardization of state institutions. Even independent state institutions have been compromised by partisanship. The Judiciary, for instance, has lost public confidence, with seven out of ten Ghanaians expressing doubts about its credibility,” he said.
Agbana also highlighted Mahama’s flagship “1 Million Coders” initiative, which aims to train and equip young people with digital skills to combat unemployment.
“With the digital economy, the recruitment and training of one million coders under President Mahama will help address unemployment and expand the economy,” he explained.
He further noted that Mahama’s leadership would focus on prudent resource management, avoiding wasteful expenditures like the controversial National Cathedral project.
“We will not have a government that spends billions on a useless National Cathedral project. Instead, we will have a government that invests in productive sectors and creates jobs for the youth of this country,” he assured.
