Stephen Amoah: Ghanaians disillusioned under Mahama’s watch

Nhyiaeso Member of Parliament, Stephen Amoah, has criticised the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), claiming that the return of President John Dramani Mahama has brought disappointment rather than hope to the Ghanaian people. Speaking at the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National Delegates Conference, Amoah painted a bleak picture of the current administration, asserting that many citizens are already questioning their electoral decision. According to the outspoken MP, who is popularly known as “Sticka”, the Mahama-led government has so far failed to offer any meaningful solutions to the country’s pressing challenges. “It’s been over a year and they are still struggling to complete basic appointments. For instance, the Road Fund is yet to see a single appointee,” he said. He accused the government of being unprepared and lacking strategic focus, claiming that their governance style hinges more on media propaganda than on effective policies. “They have no clear policy direction. It’s all talk, no action,” he added. “Tell me just one strong national policy introduced by this administration that has earned both domestic and international recognition.” Stephen Amoah further expressed concern over the growing frustration among Ghanaian youth, whom he believes feel abandoned and without opportunities under the current leadership. In urging his party to take advantage of the growing disillusionment, the MP called on fellow NPP members to focus on unifying the party and running an issue-driven campaign. “If we truly want to win back the trust of the people, especially the youth, we must avoid divisiveness. Our message should be grounded in substance, not insults.” He also encouraged party communicators to engage the electorate with messages that inspire confidence and hope. “Our campaign should awaken the intrinsic motivation of Ghanaians. We must make them believe again.” The comments by Stephen Amoah come at a time when national discourse is heating up over the country’s economic direction, job creation, and leadership performance.
