Bollywood star and Punjab Kings (PBKS) co-owner Preity Zinta wrote a heartfelt message for leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, revealing how she had been his fan for many years and always wanted him at the franchise. She also lauded Chahal’s ‘competitive attitude’ and ‘tough’ skin in difficult moments.
Zinta’s post came on X (formerly Twitter) came after Chahal’s best spell of IPL 2025 — a four-wicket haul against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders. The leggie changed the game in the second innings and helped PBKS defend a record-low score of 111 to create history. Zinta presented him with the Player of the Match award at the post-match ceremony.
“How it started vs how it’s going ❤️” Zinta said in the post, sharing photos from 2009 and 2025. “I met Yuzi during the Kings Cup in 2009 in Chandigarh. I was new to cricket & he was a young under 19 cricketer. Over the years I saw him flourish & became a force to reckon with in the cricket world. I loved his competitive attitude & always wanted him in our team but somehow the stars never aligned …… until now ! Our last game was a great example of why I was such a fan of Yuzi over the years & how, when the going gets tough, the tough get going ? I’m so happy to finally have you back where you belong @yuzi_chahal Always wanna see you smiling & shining ? Ting !” she added.

Chahal was having a difficult time in the tournament. He took just two wickets in five games in the lead-up to the KKR match and conceded as many as 56 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
PBKS are currently fourth in the IPL table with four wins and eight points in six matches. Their next two matches in the league are against the third-placed Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Chahal’s old side where he became the bowler he is today.
