The Man of Steel isn’t just faster than a flying bullet — he’s beating the box office competition, too.
“Superman” soared to the top spot on Friday, its second in theaters, raking in $16.6 million, according to The Numbers.
By Saturday, it had already flown past the $200 million mark at the North American box office and is on track to become the highest earning superhero hit of the year.
“Jurassic World Rebirth” lumbered into second place, with sales of $6.56 million on Friday, its third in theaters.
“I Know What You Did Last Summer,” the fourth installment in the horror franchise, and a reboot of the 1997 original, swiped third, taking in $5.85 million.
The Post called the slasher flick, which opened on Friday, “a lot better than the 1997 version, if equally as stupid.”
The reboot, which has Freddie Prinze Jr., Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Brandy reprising their roles, is slated to take in a $12 million haul this weekend, the lowest opening in the franchise, according to Deadline.
“Smurfs,” which The Post deemed “one of the worst movies of the year,” came in fourth, with a $4 million take on Friday, its opener.
The animated musical fantasy comedy, also a reboot — which features the voices of Rihanna, James Corden, Jimmy Kimmel, Octavia Spencer, Kurt Russell and John Goodman — is also slated to earn $12 million this weekend.
“F1: The Movie” moved down two notches to fifth, with $2.8 million in revenue on Friday, its fourth in theaters.
