Swakopmund’s Mayor, H.W. Blasius Goraseb has announced that the 2025 Mayoral Cup Tournament will officially kick off on 29 August.
Speaking during the latest ordinary council agenda meeting at the coastal town, Goraseb said that the annual tournament has become a great platform for youth development, community engagement, and social unity.
“Events like the Mayoral Cup play a vital role in bringing people together from all corners of our town and surrounding areas, while also providing an opportunity to showcase local talent, encourage healthy lifestyles, and foster a sense of pride and belonging within our communities,” he said.
The mayor also urged soccer and netball teams to sign up and compete in the showpiece event.
“We are excited to share that vendor stalls are fully booked, demonstrating overwhelming support from our local entrepreneurs.”
“However, registrations for soccer and netball teams remain open, and we encourage all interested teams to register soon to be part of this vibrant celebration of sport and community,” said Goraseb.
The 2025 Mayoral Cup Tournament will take place over three consecutive weekends, continuing into the first two weekends of September.
“Let us come together in support of our athletes, our youth, and our town. See you at the field,” the mayor concluded.
