The Duke Blue Devils dominated almost from the start and beat Syracuse 80-49 Sunday afternoon in an ACC women’s basketball game at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina.
It’s the fourth consecutive loss for the Orange, although the last two have been to ranked teams. Duke is No. 11, while SU was beaten by No. 9 North Carolina 68-58 on Thursday.
Syracuse falls to 10-17 overall, 4-12 in the ACC, while Duke is 21-7, 12-4.
Syracuse’s Georgia Woolley scored the first four points of the game, but Duke quickly erased that lead by going on a 13-2 run, and the Blue Devils never trailed again. Duke led 20-13 at the end of the first quarter and extended the lead to 41-19 at the half.
The Blue Devils had five players score in double figures, led by Toby Fournier, who had 22 points in 21 minutes off the bench.
Woolley led Syracuse with 14 points, while Sophie Burrows had 13 points and a team-leading eight rebounds.
The Orange face Pitt next at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the JMA Wireless Dome.
