Syria's Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management to QNA: Qatar Is Pivotal Player in Supporting Global Peace

Doha, April 29 (QNA) - HE Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management of the Syrian Arab Republic Raed Al Saleh said that, under the wise leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the State of Qatar plays a pivotal and essential role in supporting security and stability at the regional and international levels.
In exclusive statements to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the sidelines of the Global Security Forum (GSF) 2025, currently held in Doha, His Excellency commended Qatar's significant role in resolving disputes through peaceful means, noting that Doha has been and continues to be a key player in resolving many crises around the globe.
In this context, he reviewed Qatar's hosting of peace negotiations between the Taliban and the US, its joint role with the Arab Republic of Egypt in mediating between Israel and the Hamas Resistance Movement regarding the Gaza Strip and humanitarian aid, its contribution to peace talks between several African countries, and its prominent role in bringing viewpoints closer in the war between the Russian Federation and Ukraine.
HE Syria's Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management pointed out that Qatar's hosting of the GSF 2025 in Doha, with the broad participation of decision-makers, officials and experts from around the globe, represents a vital platform for promoting constructive dialogue and exchanging views on ways to support security and stability across the globe.
The discussion sessions within the forum agenda will enable participants to contribute effectively to bringing viewpoints closer and exchanging visions on ways to achieve peace and sustainable development around the globe, he said, stressing that the best way to achieve this lies in avoiding wars and conflicts.
His Excellency addressed the Syrian Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management's participation in this global forum, and reviewed the ministry's experience, indicating that the ministry is one of the modern ministries in Syria, especially in the field of disaster and emergency response.
He also highlighted the important role of civil society organizations in providing rapid and flexible access to affected communities, stressing the need to strengthen partnerships with these organizations to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of humanitarian aid.
In regard to bilateral relations between his country and the State of Qatar, HE Syria's Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management confirmed that they are based on solid foundations of fraternity, solidarity, and strategic cooperation.
He also pointed out that the coming period will witness expanded cooperation between the two countries in various fields, indicating that, during his visit to Doha, he discussed with several Qatari officials ways to develop bilateral cooperation in the areas of emergency and disaster management as well as enhancing humanitarian capabilities.
The State of Qatar has always been supportive of Syria, he said, pointing out that Qatar's support exceeds expectations and requests, as demonstrated by many initiatives. He also commended its cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting important humanitarian issues and settling Syria's financial arrears to the World Bank Group, which amounted to USD 15 million.
HE Syria's Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management Raed Al Saleh concluded his statements to QNA by expressing his confidence that Qatar, known for its consistent support for peoples in need, will continue to stand by the Syrian people in their journey toward reconstruction, stability, and comprehensive development.
