Tears as Chocolate Lab Runs in Her Dreams After Leg Amputated Due to Cancer
@Source: newsweek.com
A video of a three-legged dog dreaming of running with all her muscles brought TikTok viewers to tears.Jarde Power and his partner, Scott Oldridge, received heartbreaking news about their 5-year-old chocolate Labrador, Asia, earlier this year after they noticed a small lump on her paw. After weeks of waiting, a biopsy and tests, Power told Newsweek via email that they received the "worst news" that Asia had cancer."It was a very malignant cancer that had a very high chance of spreading, so the only option to save her was to amputate the leg," he said.Since Asia's amputation on March 10, Power said she has made remarkable progress. She has adjusted to her three-legged life quickly without letting her spirit falter. But they've noticed Asia still dreams about her life pre-amputation.In Thursday's TikTok video posted to the account @asia.the.choccy, the couple spotted Asia sleeping with her paws slightly moving. Then, when they looked at where her fourth leg used to be, the muscles wiggled. She was running in her dreams.Power said it was the first time she had done it post-operation, although he noted she has always been a vivid dreamer. She'll make faces, dangle her tongue out or make funny noises."The most heart-warming moment yet for me was when she was running in her sleep, and all four legs, including the missing one, were twitching," he said. "My eyes welled up at how cute it was, and all I could think in my head was her dreaming about chasing cats, on all four legs still."The owners are in awe of Asia's resilience, wanting to carry on being happy and carefree. Plus, her body quickly adapted to its new normal."As dog dads, we are so proud of her," Power said. "She amazes us every day and has given us the strength we needed to get through this ordeal."Power added that he created this TikTok account as an outlet to express his emotions while navigating this heartbreaking experience. He mentally shut down, unable to find the words, but since sharing Asia's story, he has found others who could relate, and they've become attached.Within one day, the TikTok video reached 197,000 views and 15,000 likes. Viewers quickly fell in love with Asia, calling her an angel and sweetheart."If I could give a thousand likes and cuggles. My heart goes out to her!!" one person wrote.A second added: "You go girly! Chase those dreams."A third user commented: "Oh, this brought a tear and a smile to my face."
