Virat Kohli was up to his usual antics for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their match against Punjab Kings at the Mullanpur Cricket Stadium on Sunday (April 20th, 2025). The star batter was seen having a cheeky conversation with PBKS’ Harpreet Brar in the second innings, which went viral on social media.
Kohli played the starring role with the bat for the Bengaluru-based franchise, scoring an unbeaten 73 in 54 balls to help get their fifth win away from home. During his batting innings, he was seen having a go at the PBKS all-rounder.
“20 saal ho gaye hue, aesi stump thodi na ho jaunga. Tere coach ko bhi jaanta hu main. (I’ve been playing for 20 years, I’m not going to get out like that. I also know your coach”)

To support Kohli’s innings, Devdutt Padikkal chipped in with a quickfire 61 in 35 balls to ensure that RCB finished the chase down with seven balls and seven wickets to spare.
After a quick start at the top for PBKS in the first innings, the Shreyas Iyer-led side struggled to get going with the bat as they were restricted to a mere 157/6 with the spin-duo of Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma playing key roles with the ball, taking two wickets each. Romario Shepherd, who came into the side replacing Liam Livingstone, took one wicket as well.
Speaking regarding his role in the franchise batting-wise, Kohli mentioned how he being the anchor for the side was working for him and credited Padikkal for accelerating the innings with his batting display after RCB sealed the win.
“I thought Dev made a difference today, this award should go to him, I don’t know why they have given it to me. I can accelerate, but I want to understand the strengths of other players. Holding one end up at the moment, that’s working for us, ” Kohli said during the post-match presentation.
“We’ve set ourselves up nicely. Dev (Padikkal) can play around me, maybe Rajat (Patidar) can play around me. There’s always a temptation to keep going the same way. We know in a run chase in T20 cricket, one partnership is enough. If need be, I can accelerate,” he added.
With that win, RCB have amassed a total of 10 points in 8 games and will look to continue their winning momentum to secure that position in the playoff stages. They will gear up for their home game against the Rajasthan Royals on Thursday (April 24, 2025).
