Students from Cardiff and Swansea University descended on the capital on Wednesday for the annual addition of Welsh Varsity, a day full of sporting action, alcohol, creative signs and strong university patriotism. This year the event took place in a sunny Cardiff with events staged around the city, at Sophia Gardens, Llanrumney sports pitches, Cardiff Lawn, Sport Wales and the Principality Stadium. Cardiff University came out on top with an overall Varsity result of 39.5 points to 13.5. It came after a huge win for Cardiff in the men's rugby game with a score of 69 - 0.
