Forget I’m A Celebrity, Celebrity Big Brother or even Strictly Come Dancing – there has never been a moment more highly-anticipated than the Celebrity Traitors line-up.
Since the dawn of reality television’s astronomical rise with the eruption that was Big Brother, few – if any – shows that followed in its wake have struck such a chord with viewers like The Traitors.
After three series of its civilian version, which has grown in strength an popularity year on year, 19 celebrities are about to descend onto Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands where they will face off in the single most elaborate murder mystery game imaginable.
The Sun has leaked what it claims is the full line-up of stars, and if it’s true, this will be the single most spectacular television event of the year – and many years to come.

Celebrities said to be spending their summer with Claudia Winkleman and backstabbing their fellow A-list rivals will be legendary actors Sir Stephen Fry, Mark Bonnar and Celia Imrie, as well as EastEnders hun Tameka Empson and Netflix star Ruth Codd.
TV presenters Kate Garraway, Jonathan Ross, and Clare Balding, famed diver and knitting extraordinaire Tom Daley, rugby player Joe Marler, singers Charlotte Church, Paloma Faith and Cat Burns, YouTuber Niko Omilana and Bafta winning historian David Olusoga.
Finally, they’ll be joined by comedians Lucy Beaumont, Ted Lasso star Nick Mohammed, Joe Wilkinson and the real highlight of the entre rumoured line-up, Alan Carr.
There has quite literally never been such an extraordinary line-up for anything on television since Cheryl (then Tweedy) and Jo Brand defeated Alastair Campbell on Celebrity Apprentice, and we had the satisfaction of seeing Piers Morgan getting fired.

I wasn’t sure we’d ever reach such heights again but here we are.
I was initially sceptical about a Celebrity Traitors.
Part of the show’s magic is its eclectic cast made up of everyday people, each with their own quirks and eccentricities.
After one episode, I would die for my favourite Traitors contestants and part of that love is their normality and watching them become some of the unlikeliest TV legends overnight.
And then there’s the prize. The chance to win thousands, either individually as a traitor or as a team of faithful. The stakes are so high I feel sick watching the final; it’s a hell that for some inexplicable reason I want put myself through again and again.
It’s life-changing money that means so much to each and every single person there. I joined so many other fans and sobbed when Alexander Dragonetti shared that he was raising money for the charity that looked after his late brother, who had global developmental delay and autism.

I can’t wait for Alan Carr to have his Linda moment (Picture: Clive Mason/Getty Images,)
Contestants have come on to pay for IVF, feeling it’s their last chance to have a baby, to buy a house, to give their families a better life.
Will this line-up of famous faces, whose combined net-worth will reach the tens of millions, be able to make The Traitors as compelling?
Granted, the stakes might be lower but this line-up is better than anyone could have imagined.
Yes, the names are all household – no one could make the same tired complaints they throw at Strictly or I’m A Celeb that they don’t know who anyone is – but that’s not even the point.
There are some of the best characters in showbiz, and some I never ever imagined could take part in reality television.

Reality television has long had a dirty reputation, reserved for celebrities whose star is fading, their bank balance is dwindling and their worst nightmare is coming true – they’re about to be forgotten.
Who could ever have imagined Sir Stephen Fry, one of the rare true national treasure of this country, a showbiz giant on both sides of the Atlantic, and one of the finest actors of a generation would ever lower himself to reality television?
Pop Alan Carr on anything and you’re onto a winner but watching him pull a Linda and get himself in a flap – traitor or faithful – will be gold.
I’ve never been more excited for anyone’s comeback as I am for Charlotte Church’s (Picture: Mike Lewis Photography/Redferns)
Charlotte Church deserted fame for solitude, opening up a wellness retreat in Wales where she treats guests to gong baths, plays the reverie harp and chants to keep her audience calm.
Quite the development from her pop banger Crazy Chick but her career and life is as interesting as it gets and she is still an absolute riot – I genuinely have never been more excited for anyone’s comeback.
We’ve got some of the world’s leading athletes, singers, comedians – it’s the perfect balance of players who will play the game like their life depends on it and others who are there to become memeable icons like Diane ’fizzy rose’ Carson.

It’s a line-up so perfectly constructed for The Traitors, it wouldn’t work for anything else and there’s not a single contestant that I’m not excited to see in there.
This is the one show that everyone is desperate to play, famous or not. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of them have taken the gig for a fiver or just their travel expenses paid.
If I was Strictly, I’m A Celebrity of CBB, I’d be very scared.

This line-up is in a totally different league to anything we’ve ever seen before and I don’t know how any other show will be able to compete.
How will anything ever follow Celebrity Traitors and hope for the same buzz?
For now, the BBC is yet to confirm if this leaked line-up is the real deal and they won’t until we’re days away from it hitting screens.
But if this is bang on the money, you can guarantee it’s already the TV moment of 2025.
