If you were hoping to watch next year's Six Nations Ireland v Wales fixture in Dublin then flights alone could set you back £1,095.44. Since the 2026 Six Nations dates have been released, the price of a flight between Cardiff and Dublin on March 6 has skyrocketed, and hotels on Booking.com are averaging at a whopping £450 for two nights - over £100 more than the weekends before and after. For Welsh supporters, the trip to the Aviva Stadium in Dublin is more than just a match day; it's a chance to unite with fellow fans and support their team in one of rugby's most iconic settings. However, the unprecedented costs to travel the short distance to the capital of the Republic of Ireland may force many to reconsider their plans. Aer Lingus flights from Cardiff Airport to Dublin are a whopping £548 per person for a return with luggage allowance, departing at midday on game day, Friday March 6, and returning on Sunday March 8. This is quite the step up from the cheapest flights from Cardiff to Dublin which can be found for around £27 on alternative dates, according to Skyscanner . Assuming you will not be attending alone, a trip for two without game day tickets has been priced up at around £1,500 for the weekend. The question remains: is the chance to watch Ireland v Wales live worth the eye-watering price tag? If your answer is no, you will be able to watch the game at home on television. Albeit that is not quite the same atmosphere as being amongst the Welsh and Irish crowds in a 50,000 capacity stadium. For the first time in 78 years, the Six Nations will commence with a Thursday night match on February 5, where France will host Ireland. This adjustment has been made in hopes to avoid a clash with the Winter Olympics opening ceremony and to maximise viewership, especially in France. Wales' tournament starts with a bang, as they head to Twickenham to take on England on Saturday, February 7 - having finished this year's tournament with a record 68-14 defeat to their closest rivals.
