The Life of Chuck, an upcoming film Hollywood film directed by Mike Flanagan, adapts Stephen King's novella from his 2020 collection If It Bleeds. The story follows Charles Chuck Krantz, a man fighting a brain tumor. Told in reverse order, it is one of King's more experimental works, focusing on character development over traditional horror elements. Here's everything you need to know. Flanagan is famous for his hit horror projects on Netflix such as The Fall of the House of Usher, The Haunting of Hill House, and Midnight Mass. This is Flanagan's third collaboration with King after 2017's Gerald's Game and 2019's Doctor Sleep. The star-studded cast, including Tom Hiddleston, Mark Hamill, Karen Gillan, Nick Offerman, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Jacob Tremblay only adds to the expectations. The film releases in June. The Life of Chuck unfolds in three acts in reverse chronological order. The film opens with Chuck's demise and gradually peels the layers off of how he lived his life and what brought him to where he is now. The story delves into human mortality through a surrealist and darkly comedic lens. It premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6, 2024. In an interview with Collider, the director said that this is his best movie. He added, I felt that way while we were shooting it, too. I felt that way at the end of the first week. The dance was first, which is a confident way to start an independent film, but for all the reasons you don't control, that's how it lands. And we watched this happen for four straight days. I knew that there was something magical happening.
