Spring and summer feature a wealth of amazing festivals in Scotland . Whether you are interested in whisky or music, there is an event for you over the warmer months. One of the more unique gatherings in Scotland is the Scottish Wild Food Festival . Taking place this weekend, it is a must-visit for food lovers. On Saturday, May 17, and Sunday, May 18, the Scottish Wild Food Festival will take place at the Tir na nOg Holistic Centre on the edge of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. The two-day event offers a feast of wild food and encourages visitors of all ages to get outside and learn more about local wild food. The Scottish Wild Food Festival features various dining experiences and foraging walks. The festival also includes wild cocktail making, bushcraft, presentations and demonstrations, workshops, live music , and even a marketplace. Among the highlights of the festival is a wild banquet from Craig Worrall of 4 Wild Seasons and Edible Leeds. Priced at £85, the banquet consists of a five-course menu containing 100 per cent wild ingredients. Also on offer are lunchtime experiences, including the Coastally Infused Campfire Lunch. Centred around seaweed, participants will watch as an expert prepares wild and seasonal ingredients over an open fire and combines them for a tasty lunch . A huge selection of paid workshops are also on offer at the Scottish Wild Food Festival. These include sessions dedicated to wild garlic pasta making, medicinal herbal salve making, wild fermenting, green wood carving, and much more. There are also a number of free events and activities on offer, including Forest School. This offers woodland learning activities for children and parents, including storytelling, foraging, and campfire cooking. Visitors can also access The Crooked Plank venue space for free. This is a colourful outdoor tavern where visitors can order cocktails and various other drinks in lush green surroundings. Elsewhere, The Wild Market is another venue space that can be accessed free of charge. It features sustainable, wild, foraged, and artisan goods in a vibrant outdoor marketplace featuring local makers and suppliers. In addition to Forest School, there are also many other activities for children on offer at the Scottish Wild Food Festival. These include free foraging wanders and wild crafting sessions where little ones can make masks, bath bombs, and more. Visitors can also simply take a walk around the grounds at Tir na nOg. According to the festival, the picturesque woodland trails are "packed with wild food surprises around every corner". The Scottish Wild Food Festival states: "Set in the spectacular surroundings of Tir na nOg, the Scottish Wild Food Festival will provide a feast of wild food. The festival encourages people of all ages to step outdoors and learn about local wild food. "With lavish meals, foraging walks, wild drinks, forest school, talks and demos, workshops, live music and a marketplace there really is something for everyone to get their teeth into!" The Scottish Wild Food Festival was created in 2019 as part of the Forth Valley and Lomond LEADER project, Wildwonders.
