(14) Funniest 4 hours ago DrD'isInfotainment: Yeah,No. Someone's conceptual "genius" ruined a beautiful spot in the woods. The design is hideous. It was built for efficiency first.. its angled perfectly for solar with a huge array. Its built into the hill for insulation. That garden is no till. I expect the steel hut contains their woodworking shop as well as their VW bus RV (not included in sale). This was built by the homeowners with minimum external help or input. Good luck with the plumbing and electrical. and the claustrophobia. Unobtanium (3) Funniest 3 hours ago What's Special Sweeping views "Sweeping views." Of what? The glass block? Or if you go outside, the forest!? The derelict 5th wheel RV converted into a house? Also, this photo brings on lots of questions: The ceiling/floor above isn't level, or the wall isn't. And how is the electrical and HVAC run through the walls? (0) Funniest 3 hours ago They must be Apple people, because they really hate windows. I'd walk in expecting to find a natatorium . SurfaceTension (8) Funniest 2 hours ago I think I stopped at that rest area once. Really, though, $1.5M for ANY house in TN is too much. You couldn't pay me to live in that state. TomTudbury (1) Funniest 2 hours ago Smell of Villain Lair markie_farkie (0) Funniest 2 hours ago "Hey, grab another jar of stewed placenta, wouldja? Ass-less, front-less chaps with a towel over his groin? I'd say makes. Recoil Therapy (1) Funniest 2 hours ago SurfaceTension: I think I stopped at that rest area once. Really, though, $1.5M for ANY house in TN is too much. You couldn't pay me to live in that state. Perhaps if it came with several hundred acres... otherwise I agree (maybe Nashville if I 'had' to live in TN) (9) Funniest 2 hours ago Wanebo: The fat indian warrior reakky makes, or breaks, the place. [Fark user image 583x952] Dat there's a load bearing injun. I don't know anything about inter design but IMO the whole thing is ugly AF. Recoil Therapy (6) Funniest 2 hours ago Scrolling through the pictures I got the feeling that whoever lived there considered themselves, not an artist, but an arteeste...and probably insufferable with all their explaining about the 'process' that drives their creative spirit. Zooming the map out, Knoxville didn't seem 'that' far away. Maybe a spouse with a fairly well paying job who was willing to indulge letting the other's creative spirit fly. The furnishings didn't scream 'old owners who've died', so probably a divorce. Either the one working all the time got fed up with insufferable's creativity, or insufferable got fed up with the other always working, perhaps both. The sale price being 2.5x the Zillow estimate seems to bear that out, they each want full value from the place. scottydoesntknow (8) Funniest 2 hours ago Demetrius: They must be Apple people, because they really hate windows. SpectroBoy (0) Funniest 2 hours ago Most houses these days don't include a de-lousing room At least Farva got a window in his markie_farkie (10) Funniest 2 hours ago scottydoesntknow: Demetrius: They must be Apple people, because they really hate windows. First thing I noticed. Not a single goddamn window in the entire place. Every bedroom has to have direct access to the outside to meet fire code. I guess that place is outside of any governing bodies' jurisdiction that might regulate construction. SpectroBoy (0) Funniest 2 hours ago Featuring a ceiling mirror so you can get a sky-view of yourself taking a dump! SpectroBoy (5) Funniest 2 hours ago scottydoesntknow: Demetrius: They must be Apple people, because they really hate windows. First thing I noticed. Not a single goddamn window in the entire place. I noticed that too. Living there would be HELL for me. Like being in prison, but without the windows. RolandTGunner (0) Funniest scottydoesntknow: Demetrius: They must be Apple people, because they really hate windows. First thing I noticed. Not a single goddamn window in the entire place. (0) Funniest I only clicked because I thought the "Superman themed bathroom" would look like the Fortress of Solitude (from the Christopher Reeves movie). scobee1210 (0) Funniest markie_farkie: [Fark user image image 425x640] "Hey, grab another jar of stewed placenta, wouldja? Erek the Red (4) Funniest Pros: No or very low electrical bill (depending on Tennessee's laws governing solar), lots of natural light in the above ground areas. Cons: Deathtrap if there's a fire. I didn't see any egress from the bedrooms to the outside that isn't the door. And was there water damage to the masonry in the second bedroom? LarryDan43 (2) Funniest This is a fancy mental institution dericwater (1) Funniest wet drum sandwich: From the outside, I don't think I'd recognize it as a house if I didn't already know what it was. I'd walk in expecting to find a natatorium . That's what I thought. Looks like the entrance to an indoor swimming pool. Snarfangel (0) Funniest Some homes are on-grid. Some homes are off-grid. This one is a grid. /it powers the neighborhood and the Fortress of Solitude. Snarfangel (0) Funniest kmgenesis23: 4700 sq ft and only two bedrooms? It's about quality, not quantity. Sheesh! Barnhawk72 (4) Funniest (3) Funniest It's not a prepper house, because it would be trivial for someone to just punch through the glass block. I'd replace that glass block in the main room and put in floor-to-ceiling windows. Skylights or solar tubes in the other rooms. Put up sheetrock walls over the block, which, with foam insulation, would add a few R-values to the place. Says it comes with 25 acres, so hopefully it would be acreage facing the windows I would install. Have a logger come in and remove 4-8 acres from the window view and put in a nice clover/wildflower pasture. Sell of 10 acres to pay for the improvements. Asking price would have to be half before any offer is made. (5) Funniest 35 minutes ago kmgenesis23: 4700 sq ft and only two bedrooms? The loft area is intended to be another bedroom. But because it has no direct window to the outside of its own and lacks things as basic as walls it doesn't legally qualify. This is a case of, "...were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should." (5) Funniest 35 minutes ago The outside looks like a new community centre for a run-down neighbourhood. PHANTOM STRANGER (5) Funniest 34 minutes ago The outside is giving derelict municipal pool vibes. The schizoid design styles scream "rich kid who failed art school" and "more money than sense." I wonder, if per the bubbly hallway renaissance fresco, it's a McCormick spice fortune heir gone to seed. (6) Funniest 34 minutes ago No, you can't use chairs with stiletto legs on a surface that is anything but perfectly smooth and flat. This is no bueno. darkman2000 (3) Funniest 33 minutes ago Not sure if just environmentally conscious or just a prepper grimlock1972 (2) Funniest 33 minutes ago The place is way too individualized to tastes of who ever built it. I would probably need at least $100,000 just to fix it to my preferences if i bought it, assuming those upright logs are structural and cannot be easily removed. Also it does not appear the property is fronted by a public road which would be a turn off for me as i would rather not ever need be concerned about potential property access disputes. Finally it is in Tennessee state in which i have no desire to live. SpectroBoy (0) Funniest 32 minutes ago gopher321: [Fark user image 850x566] McCorr Dick? KarmicDisaster (2) Funniest 31 minutes ago Can't we have just one window? Good luck if you have to add an outlet. Looks like there has been some settling. Looks like they painted some of the lower blocks with moisture proofing paint. That's the garage? Displayed 50 of 74 comments | Show all Enable JavaScript for Fark in order to vote for entries.
