Punjab Kings, which last featured in the playoffs during the 2014 edition of the IPL, signed Shreyas Iyer for Rs 26.75 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction, and under his leadership, PBKS have won five out of eight matches played so far, and with 10 points, they are fifth in the points table.
PBKS suffered a humiliating defeat by 7 wickets against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the last IPL 2025 match played on Sunday (April 20) at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur.
The Mohali-based franchise will next take the field on Saturday (April 26) and face defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. In the last IPL 2025 match played between PBKS and KKR on April 15, Punjab Kings successfully defended the 111-run total by bowling KKR out for 95 runs in 15.4 overs. In that match, Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed four KKR batters.
The fans of Punjab Kings will have high expectations from him once again on Saturday. Chahal, who is the only bowler to take more than 200 wickets in IPL history, was signed for Rs 18 crore by PBKS in the IPL 2025 mega auction. Apart from him, PBKS also splashed out Rs 18 crore to secure Indian left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh’s services.
Arshdeep has played all eight matches of IPL 2025 for PBKS, and with 11 wickets to his name, he is the leading wicket-taker for the Shreyas Iyer-led side. Meanwhile, captain Iyer is leading the batting charts for Punjab Kings. He has amassed a total of 263 runs and is followed by uncapped Indian batter Priyansh Arya (254).
