Three yachts were destroyed after an explosion at a Miami dock, which authorities believe may have been an arson attack. The large-scale inferno unfolded in the early hours of Friday morning on the Miami River in The Sunshine State. Horrifying footage captured at the scene showed emergency crews battling several blazes on the water. Thick plumes of black smoke can be seen pouring into the sky that, according to NBC Miami, could be seen from Miami International Airport. According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, over 30 units were called to the scene and crews battled the blazes on water and land. They had to resort to spraying foam on the yachts, with two of them stretching to 60-foot long, while another measured 90-foot long. Due to the intense blaze, one of the yachts sunk into the river and another was left partially submerged. Footage captured at the scene also showed one of the boats that managed to stay above water completely torched. There were no reports of any injuries. Investigators with the fire department and the local sheriff's office are now probing the blaze, but information regarding the cause has not yet been made available. One of the boat owners anonymously spoke with NBC6 and according to the outlet was 'emotional' when shown clips of the fires. Another woman also told the outlet that she had owned two of the three vessels and believed it had been a targeted attack. Jose Rojas, who lives nearby and works on the river, said he was woken by a large explosion. Speaking in Spanish, he described the noise as 'crazy', telling the outlet: 'I was scared', he also said that the larger boat had been used as a party boat for charter. Amanda Cummings, who was staying at a nearby hotel, said: 'It's just a loud boom, and the whole entire hotel you could feel it shake, the whole vibration.' Cynthia Walton told the outlet: 'It was really scary, with all the things going on nowadays. 'I'm completely blown away. With being three and all, it was completely mind-blowing.' Fire crews also had to put down an oil containment boom due to fuel from the boats entering the waters. DailyMail.com has approached Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office for an update on their investigation.
