Three Northern Irish hopefuls are hoping they have what it takes to go the whole way in a new ITV game show 99 To Beat. Airing this Saturday night at 6pm, 99 To Beat is the game show that anyone can win, but there’s one rule players must follow if they’re to be in with a chance of walking away with the cash prize – Don’t. Come. Last. As contestants battle it out against each other, each round will see the number of players whittled down until one person takes the top prize. Three local contestants are set to go head to head - and against 97 other hopefuls - to come out on top of the family-friendly game show set to take over Saturday night TV. Meet the NI faces competing on the first series of ITV's 99 To Beat: Caitlin - Belfast 26-year-old Caitlin from Belfast has worked in the children's entertainment industry for years and actually applied for the show after reading a Belfast Live casting call article. "Anyone who knows me will know that I’m quite optimistic, so I had to apply," Caitlin said. "I always try to live life to the fullest and take every opportunity that comes my way so I went for it! "The fact that we were chosen out of such a large group of applicants to take part felt surreal, exciting and nerve wrecking all at the same time. "Walking into the studio, meeting everyone, the Thomas Brothers, the other contestants and the crew was just incredible, everyone was amazing." She said that once the games began during filming, things went "from 0-100". "99 to Beat is like nothing you have ever seen before and will leave you on edge of your seat! "Not only will you love watching the show but you can also play the games at home with your family and friends! We can’t wait for everyone to see it and hope you all love watching it as much as we loved taking part." Bethany - Co Armagh Bethany is a 23-year-old retail assistant from Co Armagh. She said: "After applying for a different show, I received an email about 99 To Beat. After reading through it, I thought it sounded like a fun and exciting experience—something I’d really enjoy. "I still can’t believe I was one of the contestants on the show, it’s so surreal. "The entire filming process was an incredible experience from start to finish. I met so many amazing people along the way, and I’m grateful to still be in touch with many of them. It’s something I’ll never forget! She said everyone should tune in this weekend as the gameshow is guaranteed to give some good laughs. "While it was definitely stressful for us in the moment, looking back, we can see just how entertaining (and sometimes chaotic) it all was," she explained. "It’s the perfect mix of fun, excitement, and hilarious challenges." Daire - Belfast A 43-year-old lecturer at Ulster University, Daire is known to spend time playing tag rugby and being the best dad to his two young daughters. On why he entered, Daire said: "I saw the casting call on a NI Comedy group on Facebook (I have dabbled in improv and stand-up and keep meaning to get back out there) and thought it looked fun – we have always been keen on games in my family and this looked like a great challenge. "It also seemed only fair to share with the UK TV audience my good looks, charm and other qualities (such as modesty)." Daire thinks the show will be the "next big thing" and hopes that people watching at home can replicate some of the games with their families, enjoy the show and cheer on the three local contestants. He continued: "It was a fantastic experience to get there and meet all the other contestants and of course all the production team that make it possible; but also nerve wracking when the klaxon went because it was a case of 'can’t go out on the first game', 'can’t go out on the first day of filming' etc – before literally every game I suddenly needed to have a drink. "It was an intense period – a real hothouse environment with such a range of people thrown together and then effectively isolated from the world: long days, bussed back and forth etc. "But precisely the sort of set-up that creates a strong bond." 99 To Beat airs this Saturday, March 22 on ITV1 and ITVX at 6pm For all the latest news, visit the Belfast Live homepage here and sign up to our What's On newsletter
