The vehicles collided about 7.20am on Sunday on Bolinda-Darraweit Road near Bolinda, about 55km north of Melbourne. 'Three people from one of the vehicles, who have yet to be formally identified, died at the scene,' a Victoria Police spokesman said. 'The fourth occupant from that car was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.' The driver and sole occupant of the second vehicle was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 'The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing,' the police said. At midday, Detective Senior Sergeant Ben Morris said investigators had not yet determined what caused the crash. 'We do have a deceased animal that's involved on the side of the road which could be involved in what's happened here today, we're not 100 per cent sure,' Senior Sergeant Morris said, per the ABC. 'But it appears that one of the vehicles has veered into the oncoming traffic.' The crash took the state's road toll for the year to 156 people. The toll has reached 15 more deaths than the same time last year. Anyone who witnessed the incident, has dashcam footage or any other information that could assist police has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers. More to come.
