Three people injured in M6 crash as motorway closed for hours

Paramedics treated three people at the scene of a four-vehicle smash which closed the M6 for hours overnight. National Highways closed the motorway southbound between junctions 18 at Holmes Chapel and 17 at Sandbach, in Cheshire , in the early hours of Sunday morning (August 17). Emergency services were called out to the scene at 12.45am, with the motorway being closed around 10 minutes earlier. Three Cheshire fire engines attended the scene alongside police, paramedics and highways workers. They were released by firefighters before being handed over to paramedics for treatment, along with a third casualty. A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Crews were called to a road traffic collision involving four vehicles on the M6 south. "Police, paramedics, and National Highways were also in attendance at the scene, and a full closure of the road was put in place while the incident was dealt with. Firefighters made sure all vehicles were safe. "A third casualty was also attended to by paramedics on-scene."
