Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi on Wednesday (March 19, 2025) welcomed the safe return of astronaut Sunita Williams. “Welcome back to Mother Earth, Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore! Months in the unforgiving expanse of space tested the limits of endurance, adaptability and resolve, yet you conquered every challenge with unwavering determination and resilience,” said a social media post by Raj Bhavan, quoting the Governor.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin also welcomed the safe return of Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore, who were struck in the International Space Station for 287 days. Speaking in the Assembly, he said though there were concerns over their health and safety, they worked tirelessly in the space station. “Their safe return has made us happy. I congratulate Sunita Williams and appreciate those who made efforts to bring them back to earth,” he said.
Former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and other leaders also congratulated her.
