Tom Brady is No Longer Winningest Champion After NFL Changes Record Book
@Source: newsweek.com
When Tom Brady retired from the NFL in 2023, he left the game as the winningest quarterback in NFL history with seven Super Bowls, a mark that most believed would never be matched. However, after the NFL made changes to the record book, that number now has been matched.More news: Wild Mock Draft Has Browns Landing Abdul Carter and Shedeur SandersAt the NFL league meetings, the league announced it would incorporate statistics from the All-America Football Conference into the NFL's record books. The AAFC was a direct competitor to the NFL from 1946 through 1949 before folding and joining the league.Out of the three teams that joined, one was very successful in the AAFC. The Cleveland Browns won all four AAFC championships with Otto Graham at quarterback and Paul Brown at head coach.The addition of those championships brings Graham to a total of seven, matching the seven Super Bowls won by Brady. Graham has seven pre-Super Bowl-era championships now in the record books.In addition, Brown gained four championships in the NFL record book as well, which also brought him to seven total. While seven championships tied Graham with Brady, seven titles for Brown has him surpass Bill Belichick as the winningest head coach in NFL history.While just as with other sports, most fans won't take the much older championships that seriously, these changes are still significant and worth discussing as part of the NFL's history.Cleveland Browns fans should be ecstatic that they now have four more NFL championships, which brings them into the upper echelon of teams.The Packers still lead the way with 13 total championships, the Bears are second with nine, and the Giants and Browns are now tied for third with eight.New England Patriots fans are the biggest losers of these changes, as their two beloved icons are no longer clearly the top winners in NFL history and the team has been surpassed in NFL championships by the Browns.It is unlikely that these changes will cause NFL fans to change their opinion on Brady and Belichick as two of the greatest legends in the NFL's history, but the changes do bring light to how great Graham and Brown were as a duo in their own right.It is shocking that so much football history was seemingly forgotten about, but now that the NFL has made the change, it is fascinating to see how different the league's history looks, which should be viewed as a fun change to all NFL fans.More NFL news:NFL Analyst Gives Insight Into Which Position Travis Hunter Should Play in NFLMyles Garrett Hints at Who Browns Should Take in NFL DraftNFL Mock Draft 2025 3.0: Updated Prediction of the Entire First Round
