‘Too sexy’: Salmond left seeking answers after messy Fox League departure
@Source: theage.com.au
Danny Weidler: Who is Tiffany Salmond?Tiffany Salmond: I was the sideline reporter for Fox League in New Zealand for Warriors home games. It was my dream job. I threw everything into it. I took annual leave from my full-time job on the weeks when I had a game so I could prepare. I believe that passion and dedication came through in my work. It’s why the audience resonated with me so much.
DW: Did you create the role?TS: Yes, the sideline role didn’t exist in New Zealand until I made it happen. It started when a Fox League director who followed me on Twitter/X saw I was creating rugby league content again and reached out. I joked that he should tell his team there’s a Kiwi girl they should be working with, and to his credit, he actually did.
I had no previous live/on-air or sideline experience before this role, so I was truly thrown into the deep end and learnt to swim with everyone watching and listening as I did. I was presenter, producer, and floor manager in one. There was no precedent for any of it, just me figuring it out as I went.
It was such a different beast from any existing sideline setup that even Fox ended up paying me a higher rate than their other sideline reporters, purely because they recognised how much extra work I was doing off-camera to make it all happen.
