Top boys & girls performances from the 2025 Gloucester County Championships
@Source: nj.com
Friday wasn’t the best weather day at Deptford, but it didn’t stop Gloucester County’s finest from putting on a show at this year’s championship meet.
It’s the third year in a row Washington Township’s girls have won the meet and the first time Williamstown’s boys have gotten the job done since 2001.
Below, find five of the best individual performances from the action.
Jones sweeps girls hurdles events
Washington Township senior Dakota Jones has become one of the state’s best in the hurdles events and she gold medaled in both on Friday. The NJIT commit ran a 14.67 in the 100 hurdles and a 1:07.76 in the 400 hurdles. The 100 hurdles time is the second-fastest finals time she has clocked at a state meet. The 400 hurdles time is a new PR.
Lewis sweeps boys discus, shot put
Williamstown senior Jayron Lewis looked the part once again in the boys discus and shot put. In the shot put, he threw a winning number of 57-11, which is the second-best of his career. Lewis owns a PR 59-0 which ranks No. 9 in the state. His 57-11 is a would-be No. 12 mark in N.J. In the discus, his 154-11 was good enough to win and it’s the third-best throw of his career.
Kingsway girls light up sprints
The Dragons girls put on a clinic in the sprints on Friday. Freshman Talia Griscom won the 100 dash in 12.53, with senior Jonnelle Lewis placing second in 12.69, Lewis (25.44) and freshman Noemi Haller (25.76) went 1-2 in the 200 dash, and Haller won the 400 in 57.62 and senior Camryn Stanard bronze medaled in 1:01.80.
Sabb puts sprinting stardom on display
What more is there to say about the sophomore standout and Top-10 nationally-ranked football prospect? Glassboro product Xavier Sabb is simply sensational. Sabb ran a PR 10.71 to win the 100 dash, a PR 22.01 to win the 200, and a 6-0 clearance in the high jump to earn another gold. Sabb’s 10.71 in the 100 dash ranks no. 8 in the state and his 200 dash time is No. 16 in N.J.
Karp, Moore, Blocker dominate girls throws
Washington Township senior Ella Karp, Glassboro junior Sunsarai Moore, and Clayton senior Rainelle Blocker did their thing in the girls throws on Friday. Karp won the shot put with a mark of 42-10 1/4, Moore finished second in 36-3 and Blocker bronze medaled with a 36-0. Moore won the discus with a 130-10, Karp silvered via a 115-4, and Blocker notched fourth with a 95-1 behind Glassboro sophomore Virginia Tarasevich (104-10). In the javelin, Blocker PR’d to win with a 123-8 and Moore placed third with a 102-6. Williamstown junior Sharon Peterson (114-10) was second.
