Tottenham have exercised an option to extend Ben Davies' contract until the end of next season. Davies' deal was due to expire this summer but Spurs have confirmed the left-sided defender will be staying for another year. The Wales captain had been linked with a transfer move to Wrexham. Davies is the longest-serving player at Spurs, having joined from Swansea in 2014 and made 358 appearances in all competitions. In a statement, Spurs said: “We are delighted to announce that we have exercised the option to extend Ben Davies' contract, which will now run until the summer of 2026. “Now our longest-serving senior player, Ben joined us from Swansea City in the summer of 2014 and has been a constant, reliable presence in our squad ever since.” Wales captain Davies made 28 appearances for Spurs last season, including a long run in the team when they were hit with an injury crisis in defence. Davies is currently on international duty with Wales, who he helped beat Liechtenstein 3-0 in a World Cup qualifier on Friday. Craig Bellamy’s side face Belgium in a crunch game in their group on Monday. Asked about his future this week, Davies said: “I don’t think I am going to be the person who is making any of those decisions, so as far as I’m concerned, it’s full focus here this week."
