Tottenham launch legal action against Man United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe's Ineos

Tottenham Hotspur have initiated High Court action against Ineos, the company owned by Manchester United co-owner Jim Ratcliffe, over a sponsorship deal that was terminated. The North London club lodged a commercial claim at the High Court against Ineos Automotive last Thursday, with details of the case yet to be disclosed. In 2022, the chemicals giants entered into a five-year agreement with Tottenham, predating Ratcliffe's acquisition of shares in United, for its Ineos Grenadier to be Spurs' official 4x4 vehicle partner. Ineos said in a statement: "Ineos Automotive has been a partner of Tottenham Hotspur since 2022, expanding on a partnership agreement that Ineos Group had in place with the club since 2020. "We have a contractual right to terminate our partnership contract and in December 2024 exercised that right." Tottenham have declined to comment, the PA News Agency has reported. The legal move comes after Ineos settled a dispute with New Zealand Rugby over a sponsorship agreement in March. New Zealand Rugby had previously announced in February that they were taking legal action against Ineos, claiming the company failed to pay the first instalment of 2025 sponsorship money as part of a six-year deal agreed upon in 2021.
