Tottenham outline Destiny Udogie transfer stance as Man City prepare summer move
@Source: mirror.co.uk
Tottenham will resist any move for Destiny Udogie this summer. Manchester City have been linked with a move for the Italy left back but Udogie is likely to be on a long list rather than their No1 target. That is partly because Tottenham do not want to sell a player who they rate highly despite a season which has been disrupted by injuries. Udogie, 22, also has four years left on a contract and would be incredibly difficult to get out of Tottenham with chairman Daniel Levy , a notoriously difficult negotiator. It means any potential deal is highly unlikely this summer with Udogie also looking to get back to his best form, fitness and top performances for Spurs. Italy international Udogie was one of the stand-out performers for Tottenham last season and was shortlisted among the Premier League players of the year. Tottenham have been hit by injuries this season - including Udogie who is fit again for the run-in - but that has not helped under-pressure manager Ange Postecoglou . But internally, Udogie is still highly regarded and seen as a brilliant piece of business having joined from Udinese for just £15m in 2022 before spending another year in Italy and then arriving at Spurs in 2023. City are looking to rebuild this summer and new director of football Hugo Viana is evaluating targets. Juventus defender Andrea Cambiaso is still believed to be City’s first choice left back despite the admiration for Udogie. Viana started work officially this week with City planning for another big window having broken the bank in January to boost their squad for manager Pep Guardiola . Would Destiny Udogie be a good signing for Man City? Share your thoughts in the comments below They have been largely successful in the market with Omar Marmoush catching the eye up front but they are likely to want to strengthen an ageing squad still further. They have already loaned Kyle Walker to AC Milan while Josko Gvardiol has always excelled at left back, in the middle and as an inverted full back.
