During the trophy parade on Friday, Ange Postecoglou was greeted with a loud cheer by the fans. This just means that the Australian still has the backing of the Spurs faithful for now. Also, the 59-year-old has given a clear indication that he is planning for next season and does not know whether he will remain at the helm or not in the summer.
Roberto De Zerbi to stay at Marseille amid Tottenham links
There is no secret at Daniel Levy is already looking to bring in a new manager to build on the Europa League success next season and compete for trophies. The Lilywhites have endured a disastrous domestic campaign and that has not helped Ange Postecoglou’s cause as the Australian is set to be axed by the North London club once the season ends.
It was reported earlier that Spurs wanted to bring in Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi as a replacement of Ange Postecoglou for next season. But, Spurs have now suffered a massive blow in their pursuit of the Italian manager. As per Football Italia, De Zerbi is set to stay at Marseille next season and continue his project at Orange Velodrome.
The French club also released a statement earlier this week confirming the 45-year-old’s stay at the club. The statement read (via Football Italia),
“Frank Mccourt, Pablo Longoria, Medhi Benatia and Roberto De Zerbi are fully committed to a consolidated project. The two days of discussions consolidated and reaffirmed the unity of the management team around a shared vision, essential to the long-term viability of the project launched in the summer of 2024.”
