THE Acting Prime Minister Bradley Tovosia has lauded the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant (MPIP) 2025 contestants describing them as the ‘Pearls of the Pacific’, who demonstrate the true essence of beauty. At the same time, he hailed the pageant theme of ‘leadership in diversity and adversity’ as a reminder of true leadership, which is not only about standing tall in moments of triumph, but being graced through challenges. The Acting Prime Minister made the remarks in his keynote address at the MPIP 2025 Crowning Night event on Saturday at the Friendship Hall in East Honiara. He described the event as a celebration of elegance, grace and confidence, which he said are the true essence of beauty that shine far beyond ‘experiences.’ “This pageant is a tribute to intelligence, talent and purpose. Each contestant who graces this stage tells a story, a dream and determination that reflect the depth of a true beauty. “Each of these incredible women is an inspiration to us all. They carry the story of the nation, of the people, the flags they proudly represent. From the breathtaking display of attires honouring our cultures and heritage to the mesmerising elegance of every woman, we are reminded that beauty is not just seen, it is felt. “It is the strength in fashion, every smile, in every voice and the courage in every stand. Tonight, as we prepare to crown our new Miss Pacific Islands, we celebrate not just a queen, but a voice for our region – a woman who can carry forward our values, identity and unity,” Acting Prime Minister Tovosia said He said he was deeply humbled to have witnessed last week’s magnificent display of the different vibrant and rich cultural diversity in each and every contestant and for him to stand on behalf of the Solomon Islands Government and People at the crowning event. “You are the pearls of the Pacific. What you represent is more powerful than what meets the eyes. The whole of the Pacific Islands, brothers and sisters, tonight stand with you. “Solomon Islands is proud to host you and I hope this week will bring traces of memories and experiences that will last a life time. Tonight is just not about being crowned Miss Pacific Islands, but it is about being given the honour of carrying the Pacific stories, the Pacific way of life and the Pacific family. It is about being the unified voice that our Pacific people continue to pray for.” “It is indeed a great honour for me to stand at this special occasion on behalf of the government and people of Solomon Islands to celebrate with the pearls of the Pacific – the remarkable women who have graced this stage with confidence, strength and purpose.” He said that the journey in this competition has shown that beauty is not in appearance, but in resilience, intelligence and the ability to uplift others and the eight contestants have proven that leadership knows no boundaries. The Acting Prime Minister told the contestants that their journey does not end at the crowning night, but continues beyond the event. “You are all the agents of change and your presence on this stage is testament to the strength and brilliance of Pacific women. As we witness this particular celebration, let us remember that beauty is not defined by perfection, but confidence, kindness and the power that lifts others. Tonight, we just do not crown a winner, but we celebrate the artistry, ambition – the heart of every remarkable woman who stands here before us.” By IAN LADDS OSO Solomon Star, Honiara
