Toyosi Olusanya to net St Mirren significant six figure transfer fee as MLS side close in on deal
@Source: dailyrecord.co.uk
Houston Dynamo are closing in on a deal to sign St Mirren’s top scorer Toyosi Olusanya. The Major League Soccer outfit have agreed a significant six-figure deal with the Buddies. The 27-year-old has now been given permission to open talks with Dynamo. The deal is likely to be ratified by the two clubs in the next 24 hours and would be subject to the player getting a work permit to make the move Stateside. It is a decent bit of business by the Buddies. Olusanya is out-of-contract at the end of the season and was likely to leave the Paisley club for nothing in the summer. St Mirren vice chairman Jim Gillespie was the driver in the deal and rejected several bids over the last few days before the club eventually got their valuation. Olusanya has eight goals this season and was a big player in the Buddies, making it three consecutive top-six finishes. He has been at St Mirren for the last three years although it really has only been this season he has made himself a first-choice. The money will now go into Stephen Robinson’s first-team budget and also to improve the general infrastructure of the club. The Paisley outfit have been top six regulars and are looking to push themselves even higher with the likes of Gillespie keen to see them eventually become a consistent top five club. The club has made significant strides on and off the park in recent seasons.
