Arsenal have finally reached an agreement with Sporting CP to sign Viktor Gyokeres. According to The Athletic, the agreement was reached for a fee of £64 million inclusive of add-ons. An initial deal worth £54.8m plus £8.6m in add-ons had been struck in principle between Arsenal and Sporting. However, there were still issues remaining over the contingency bonuses. Arsenal had made signing a new striker a top priority this summer. But it hasn't been easy as the transfer has been at risk of falling through. Gyokeres refused to turn up to pre-season and even allegedly threatened to go on strike as club president Frederico Varandas warned of sanctioning the 27-year-old.
