Trump to leave G7 summit early, calls on Tehran to be immediately evacuated

US President Donald Trump will leave the G7 summit early, the White House announced early on Tuesday morning, after Trump called on Iranian civilians to "immediately evacuate Tehran" on Monday night over Truth Social. "Iran should have signed the 'deal' I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life. Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON," Trump wrote. "I said it over and over again! Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!" Trump has previously insisted that he does not want the US military involved in the war. Concerns have been raised over several years on Tehran's uranium enrichment, which has exceeded levels agreed upon by international parties. Potential nuclear weapons were of significant concern to Israeli officials, as Iran has a long history of issuing threats against the Jewish state and arming terror groups against it. Iranian media reported heavy explosions in the capital, and that air defenses were firing off against an aerial attack. Trump will return to Washington from the G7 summit in Canada on Monday night to attend to many "important matters," White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said. Operation Rising Lion Much of Tehran's military leadership, nuclear facilities, and scientists have been destroyed or killed in less than a week of combat. Trump previously admitted to knowing about the impending Israeli attack, although has repeatedly asserted that the US was uninvolved. Trump told Reuters in a phone interview on Friday that he and his team had known the attacks were coming, and still saw room for an accord. “We knew everything, and I tried to save Iran from humiliation and death. I tried to save them very hard because I would have loved to have seen a deal worked out,” Trump said. A US official said on Monday that Trump would not sign a draft statement from Group of Seven leaders calling for de-escalation of the Israel-Iran conflict. The draft statement, seen by Reuters, also commits to safeguarding market stability, including energy markets, says Iran must never have a nuclear weapon, and that Israel has the right to defend itself. Reuters contributed to this report.
