MOSCOW, February 10. /TASS/. With US President Donald Trump’s return to the White House, big changes in the country’s domestic and foreign policy have already been seen, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said at a press conference.
"Donald Trump’s return to the White House, defying numerous forecasts, means a change both in the US’ domestic policy and, certainly, the emergence of numerous new components and nuances in its foreign policy course," the senior Russian diplomat said.
According to him, "the liberal-globalist agenda has been replaced by the reality of national populism" in the US. "That said, US expansionism is still alive and well, as well as their drive to dominate global affairs. It’s just being framed differently compared to how the Democrats did it," Ryabkov explained.
The Russian deputy foreign minister pointed out that "the returning US president has taken a hard stance on a plethora of topics, following through on promises made during his election campaign," having already signed at least 200 executive orders. As an example, he cited Trump’s decisions on the US Agency for International Development (USAID), the World Health Organization (WHO), the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) and NATO financing.
