Turkmenistan’s parliament tightening up legal framework with fresh batch of transport laws

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, April 14. During the
eighth session of the seventh convocation of the Majlis
(Parliament) of Turkmenistan, lawmakers rolled up their sleeves and
gave the green light to a batch of laws designed to push the
country’s socio-economic development forward, Trend reports.
The newly enacted laws were designed in accordance with the
priority areas of state policy under the leadership of President
Serdar Berdymukhammedov and went through the wringer with a

Among the key decisions was the approval of an updated version
of the Law of Turkmenistan “On the Court,” which modernizes the
country’s legal framework for the judiciary.
The parliament also ratified Turkmenistan’s accession to the
1988 Protocol to the International Convention on the Cargo Mark,
reinforcing the country’s commitment to improving maritime safety
Legislative changes also extended to the transportation sector,
with an updated “Road Transport Law” that focuses on enhancing
transport safety and clarifying the responsibilities of regulatory
bodies, including the Cabinet of Ministers and the
“Türkmenawtoulaglary” agency.
At the conclusion of the session, the Ombudsman for Human
Rights, Yazguly Gurbannazarov, delivered the annual report on the
accomplishments achieved over the past year.
