Two hurt in Birmingham Road car crash that saw buses divert around scene

Two drivers were taken to hospital after a crash. Buses were diverted around the scene in Birmingham Road, in the village of Shenstone, between Sutton Coldfield and Lichfield , after the collision today, Wednesday, July 16. Two vehicles collided just after 2pm, with emergency services called to the scene. READ MORE: Concerns raised over police training after man shot dead by armed officers Both drivers were taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment, although neither were seriously hurt. A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a two-car collision on Court Drive in Shenstone at 2pm, one ambulance attended the scene. On arrival we discovered two patients. "A man was treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital , Birmingham. A second man was assessed and discharged at the scene." Staffordshire Police organised the recovery of both vehicles. A spokesperson for the force said: "We were called just after 2pm today to Birmingham Road, Shenstone, following reports of a collision involving two vehicles. "We attended the scene alongside colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service . "Both drivers were taken to hospital by paramedics. Recovery was arranged for both vehicles." National Express West Midlands said the X3 would be "terminating at Watford Road Hillock" at the time. The service provider said: "We apologise for any disruption to your journey."
