The driver and the passenger of one of the vehicles, a man and a woman both aged in their 20s, were taken to University Hospital Limerick following the incident.
According to a garda spokesperson, their injuries are believed to be "non-life threatening".
"The occupants of the other vehicle failed to remain at scene," said the spokesperson.
Investigations are ongoing.
