Marcus Rashford is set to be out for "some weeks" as Unai Emery confirmed that the Aston Villa frontman could miss the rest of the season. He missed the team's FA Cup semi-final defeat on Saturday. Rashford sustained a minor muscle injury during the first half of the 2-1 defeat to Manchester City on Tuesday and Villa claimed he'd picked up a "knock". The loanee has become a mainstay in the starting XI since joining Villa from Manchester United in January. In his absence Villa were well beaten at Wembley, going down 3-0 to Crystal Palace with Ollie Watkins having to lead the line in Rashford's absence. The club did tests on the player after he picked up an issue this week but its now been confirmed that a hamstring issue will sideline him. Villa are firmly in the hunt for the top five and Champions League qualification but with the final day of the season just four weeks away Rashford's time on the pitch could now be over. Emery said: "He's injured. He got injured this week and [Friday] we did a test. It's his hamstring. We are going to try to test him each match but he's injured and probably some weeks he won't be available." Rashford had started nine of Villa's last 12 games including both legs of the Champions League quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain. He's recaptured the form that he once showed in Manchester which has led to talk of the Midlands outfit signing him permanently. The forward's future is unclear with Ruben Amorim making it clear he didn't see Rashford as part of his plans. He was out in the cold before leaving on loan and its been reported that he doesn't see a future under the current Old Trafford boss. Villa have a £40million purchase option on Rashford, who has no interest in moving to a club in London but does want to remain in the Champions League wherever he ends up. Despite impressing whilst his parent club continue to struggle for form Amorim has stood by the decision to let Rashford leave. He said: “In January, you were talking about Rashford and Antony, we lost these players and didn’t bring new ones. It was a risk. But there are things here that are more important than scoring 10 more goals this season. “We are trying to do something that is more important. We can hurt the squad now but in the future it will help the club. I think we are on that path. That is clear. In that moment it was my idea.
