LAGOS – Mr. Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, has called for improved flight services to Osubi Airport in Warri, Delta State in a bid to further serve travelling public on that route.
Cubana made the call on Monday aboard United Nigeria Airlines before departure from the Osubi Airport to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja to Osubi.
A statement by Chibuike Uloka, the Spokesman, United Nigeria Airlines, said that the carrier had resumed the Abuja-Osubi route on Monday with its first flight UN0548, which emanated from Abuja airport.
Cubana, who was onboard Warri-Abuja flight, lauded the airline for restoring flight operations into Osubi and called for increased flight frequencies to better serve the traveling public.
Cubana said: “I was on my way from Ohara and had originally planned to travel through Benin or Asaba. However, upon seeing the advert that United Nigeria Airlines had resumed operations into Osubi, I immediately adjusted my plans accordingly.
“As a United Nigeria Airlines customer, I am proud of this moment. I strongly encourage the airline to increase its frequency in order to better serve the growing number of travelers.”
Uloka said that the resumed scheduled commercial services into Osubi Airport, Warri, marked a significant comeback to provide safe and seamless flight operations to passengers in the route by the airline.
According to him, the Abuja-Warri flight was welcomed with a traditional water salute and a red-carpet reception for passengers.
In addition to the Abuja service, subsequent flights between Warri and Abuja, as well as Lagos–Warri–Lagos sectors, all operated successfully, underscoring that United Nigeria Airlines was fully back at Osubi Airport and committed to sustaining seamless connectivity for air travelers.
The flight, he said, was received on arrival by Mr. Winston Ifeacho Egwuatu, Osubi Airport Manager, who described the resumption as a welcome development for the city and its residents.
He noted that the return of scheduled operations by United Nigeria Airlines would stimulate economic activities in Warri and its environs.
“We are delighted to welcome United Nigeria Airlines back to Osubi Airport. Their return is more than just the resumption of flights—it is the reopening of Warri to greater business opportunities, commerce, and social activities.
“This service will have a far-reaching impact on the city and its people, and we encourage United Nigeria Airlines to remain consistent on this route to sustain and grow these benefits,” Egwuatu said.
Besides, the statement said that the resumption of the flight received commendation from other passengers who also called for sustained operations to ease the travel burdens faced by people in the area.
