NEW DELHI, February 10. /TASS/. The United States refused to organize demonstration flights of its F-35A and F16 fighter jets at the upcoming Aero India 2025 exhibition after learning that Russia’s Su-57 fighter jet will take part, Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov said. Commenting on New Delhi’s diversification of its defense cooperation, the ambassador described it as a natural process, adding that "a healthy competition is an integral part of it." "Most importantly, it should not be carried out to the detriment of our cooperation," Alipov added. "As reality shows, our rivals are not ready for honest competition. Having learned that our Su-57 will be showcased at Aero India, US companies refrained from F-35A and F-16 flight programs," he continued. Russia’s fifth-generation Su-57E fighter jets will for the first time be showcased at the Aero India international show. An Indian Air Force source told TASS the plane has already arrived in Bangalore, where the exhibition will open on February 10. The Su-57 jet is the world's only fifth-generation fighter that has proven its effectiveness in real combat conditions against Western air defense systems. The aircraft is capable of carrying a wide range of precision-guided weapons and features low visibility for enemy detection systems. Su-57 multirole fifth-generation fighter jet was designed to destroy all air, ground, and water surface targets, monitor the airspace at major distances from deployment bases, make adversary headquarters, command posts and control systems inoperative. The jet can engage a broad range of guided and unguided weapons, including air-to-air short, medium and long-range missiles, smart 250, 500 and 1500 kg bombs (the latter from outside suspension). Maximum combat payload is 10 tons. The aircraft stealth characteristics are boosted by the construction shape, as well as reflecting and absorbing coating materials and electronic warfare means. Some weapons are hidden inside the aircraft to decrease signature. The measures weaken the reflected signal and deviate it from the source. Adversary radar does not receive the information on the location and speed of the aircraft. Low signature in the optical band is ensured by digital (pixel) camouflage painting of the aircraft. Aero India has been held at the Yelahanka Air Force base since 1996. The 15th edition of the air show will be held on February 10-14, 2025.
