HARTFORD, Connecticut -- Hollywood’s “Golden Girl” Betty White is being honored with a Forever stamp that will be sold by the United States Postal Service.
The U.S. Postal Service stamp will debut on March 27, after the agency announced in November it would be in the 2025 stamp collection.
The late actress died in 2021 just weeks before her 100th birthday. She spent more than 60 years on screen and is often referred to as the “First Lady of Television.”
She was the first woman to produce a national TV show, star in a sitcom, and receive an Emmy nomination. She won Emmys for her roles as “Happy Homemaker” on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Rose on The Golden Girls.
“The U.S. Postal Service will commemorate the warmth, wit and charisma of Betty White by honoring the late actress and comedienne with a new stamp bearing her likeness,” the postal service said in a release Feb. 20.
The stamp features a digitally created portrait of the cherished star against a violet-colored background. She is portrayed wearing a polka-dotted blue top. “Betty White” is printed in white near the bottom of the stamp artwork. “FOREVER USA” is printed just below, in violet. Her name also appears centered atop the white selvage, also in violet.
The stamp will be available for purchase in panes of 20. As it is a Forever stamp, it will always be equal in value to the current First-Class Mail 1-ounce price, according to the USPS.
