Earlier, it was reported that, at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, King Abdullah II ibn Al-Hussein of Jordan paid a state visit to Samarkand. During the visit, the parties signed a number of agreements and memorandums of understanding, the press service of the King of Jordan reported.
It is stated that today Jordan mainly imports pharmaceutical products, chemical goods, fertilizers, inorganic chemicals, as well as oilseeds and fresh fruits from Uzbekistan. Meanwhile, Uzbekistan’s main imports from Jordan include copper, cocoa and cocoa products, sugar and sugar-based products, grain products, soap, fruits, and nuts.
During the visit, the governments of Uzbekistan and Jordan signed an agreement on the establishment of an Intergovernmental Joint Commission on bilateral cooperation, an agreement on cooperation in the field of higher education and scientific research, and on cooperation in the field of tourism.
Furthermore, the parties reached an agreement on mutual exemption from entry visa requirements and signed an agreement on the promotion and protection of mutual investments.
In addition, a protocol was signed between the Jordanian Customs Administration and the Customs Committee under the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan on the advanced online exchange of information regarding the movement of goods and vehicles.
At the same time, an agreement was signed between the Ministry of Agriculture of Jordan and the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan on cooperation in the field of agriculture, as well as an agreement between the Ministry of Agriculture of Jordan and the Plant Protection Agency of Uzbekistan on cooperation in plant protection and quarantine, and an agreement between the Ministries of Agriculture on cooperation in animal health and veterinary medicine.
Besides that, an agreement was reached on the protocol introducing amendments to the Air Services Agreement signed between Jordan and Uzbekistan on November 24, 1996. A memorandum of understanding was also signed between the Ministry of Waqf and Islamic Affairs of Jordan and the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, as well as a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Waqf and Islamic Affairs of Jordan and the Committee on Religious Affairs of Uzbekistan.
Additionally, an agreement on the extradition of criminals was signed between the governments of Jordan and Uzbekistan, along with a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in standardization, metrology, and conformity assessment between the Jordanian Standards and Metrology Organization and the Uzbek Agency for Technical Regulation.
