Vaibhav Suryavanshi: The 14-Year-Old IPL Star With A Luxury Car Collection – But Who Drives Them?
@Source: newsx.com
At just 14 years old, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has taken the cricketing world by storm. After a sensational IPL 2025 debut where he smashed a century against Gujarat Titans, the teenager is now making headlines not only for his batting but also for his ever-growing list of luxury rewards.
His latest prize is grabbing as much attention as his strokes on the field. And it raises one simple question — who’s actually driving these cars?
Big Awards, Flashy Cars, and a Legal Hurdle
Vaibhav was recently named the ‘Super Striker of the Season’, an award presented by Tata Motors.
The title came with a brand-new Curvv EV, now added to a collection that already includes a Mercedes-Benz. That car was reportedly gifted earlier in the season by Rajasthan Royals’ owner Ranjit Barthakur.
But there’s a catch. Vaibhav is still four years away from getting a learner’s licence, let alone driving on public roads.
Commentator Harsha Bhogle had a lighthearted take during the award presentation. “He can’t even drive the car he just received!" he said.
A Mother’s Sacrifice Rewarded
While Vaibhav cannot drive the Curvv, he knew exactly who deserved the keys.
“This is the first gift I am giving to my mom," he said with emotion.
A clip shared by Rajasthan Royals earlier this year showed just how deeply involved his mother is in his journey.
“She sleeps at 11 pm and wakes up at 2 am to prepare for my practice sessions," Vaibhav said. He mentioned that she barely gets three hours of rest but still manages to cook and organize everything for him.
Her dedication has now received a fitting reward from her son.
Can a Minor Even Own a Car in India?
The buzz around Vaibhav’s collection has led to legal curiosity. Can someone under 18 even own a car?
According to Upendra Rao, Additional Transport Officer of Darbhanga, the answer is yes.
“If all necessary documents like PAN card, Aadhaar, and proof of address are in place, a vehicle can be registered even in the name of a minor," Rao explained in a media report.
However, he added that minors are not permitted to drive, regardless of ownership.
In Vaibhav’s case, the Curvv EV will likely be registered under his mother’s name, while the earlier gifted Mercedes-Benz can be legally registered under his own.
Bihar’s Cricket Dreams Get Bigger
Vaibhav’s story started in the lanes of Bihar and has quickly reached the international spotlight.
But he isn’t the only young star rising from the region.
Another promising player, Sandeep Kumar from Samastipur, has been signed by an IPL team for Rs 49 lakh.
His father drives an auto for a living. Now he watches his son step into the IPL, chasing dreams that suddenly feel more possible.
