In a historic victory, India clinched their third ICC Champions Trophy title on Sunday, defeating New Zealand in a nail-biting final. The thrilling match reached its climax when Rohit Sharma’s squad sealed the win with a boundary off the last ball of the 49th over, sparking jubilant celebrations across the country. Fans erupted in joy, lighting firecrackers and flooding the streets to mark the triumph. Meanwhile, Bollywood celebrities also took to social media to shower the team with congratulatory messages, celebrating India’s remarkable achievement.
Actress Kriti Sanon was also among the ones who shared her excitement over the monumental victory on Sunday night. Speaking to the media at the IIFA Awards 2025 green carpet, the Do Patti star recalled the moment when India won the title, stating that she heard a lot of “shouting and hooting.”
“When I heard all the shouting and hooting, I thought, ‘Who could have entered?’ And then somebody told me that India had won. It was a double celebration! I am extremely proud and so happy. Tonight, we are not only celebrating 25 years of IIFA but also India’s victory. Celebrating IIFA’s 25th anniversary in India, among our own people, makes it even more special. And now, with India’s win, it’s truly a double celebration,” she said.
