V.I. SCHOOL SPORTS ROUNDUP: Hurricanes claim STTJIAA middle school soccer title

WEDNESDAY’S RESULTS Middle School Soccer
Antilles School 4, Gifft Hill School 2: The Hurricanes clinched the St. Thomas-St. John Interscholastic Athletic Association league title with their win over the Barracudas.
Antilles School finished the season with a 4-1-1 record (13 points), breaking a tie with Gifft Hill School (3-0-2, 10 points) atop the league standings in their final match. The combined All Saints Cathedral School-Virgin Islands Montessori School and International Academy team finished third at 1-0-4 (three points).
Jerome Boschulte scored a pair of goals for the Hurricanes, with Thamenzy Bonne-Annee and Geno Fero adding one goal each.
Knox Stone and Giuliana Germain both scored for the Barracudas, with assists coming from Colt Smith and Ricardo Garcia Sanchez.
Elementary Soccer
Virgin Islands Montessori School and International Academy 6, Antilles School Grey 1: The Volts claimed the St. Thomas-St. John IAA regular-season league title after downing the Hurricanes in their season finale.
Wyatt Hume and Lachlan Wilson had two goals each for Virgin Islands Montessori, which was undefeated (7-0-0, 21 points) during the regular season. Conner Moore and Atherton Baranowski added one goal each.
Cameron Martinez had the lone goal for Antilles School Grey (5-0-2, 15 points), which tied for second with Gifft Hill School in the league standings.
Up next: The league’s top four teams advance to the St. Thomas-St. John IAA playoffs, which begins with semifinal matches today at the Virgin Islands Montessori School and International Academy field.
The semifinals begin at 4 p.m. with Antilles School Grey facing Gifft Hill School (5-0-2, 15 points). No. 1 seed Virgin Islands Montessori hosts its sister team, Virgin Islands Montessori Too (4-1-2, 13 points), at 5 p.m.
The semifinal winners play for the league championship at 4:30 p.m. Friday, also at the Virgin Islands Montessori field.
