Video Of BluSmart Cabs Eating Dust At EV Charging Station Makes Indians Miss 'Reliable' Cabs
@Source: news18.com
BluSmart, a popular ride-hailing company with an electric vehicle fleet, built a reputation in India for providing clean cabs with no threat of surge or cancellations. The drivers were polite, and the passengers returned to the app, opting to ditch the company’s competitors, such as Ola and Uber. BluSmart’s operations, however, came to an abrupt end earlier this year after the company’s founders faced several allegations of financial misconduct. The aftermath of BluSmart’s sudden disappearance from the roads meant over 10,000 drivers were left jobless overnight, and public trust in electric vehicle mobility was shaken. But what happened to its cars?
An X user, who goes by the handle @BunnyPunia, recently shared the state of hundreds of electric vehicles in BluSmart’s fleet eating dust. The user claimed that they had visited a Jio-bp EV charging hub where they discovered several Tata Tigor parked and covered in a thick layer of dust.
“Everywhere I see are Blu Smart parked and left. The company has of course shutdown. They are just eating dust. What was once a great, great initiative for travellers is now lying like this. Getting junk, getting dust, (sic)” the user said as he panned around and showed the condition of the cabs.
“Really sad to see this,” the X user added.
“Came across this while charging the Tata Harrier EV to 100% before leaving for a range test. Why can’t we Delhiites ever get good reliable clean safe cab services?” read the caption.
Shame!Such a sad end to what was once Delhis best cab service : Blu Smart

“For early morning flights it was a life saver. Otherwise uber/ola, and indrive all used to quote a bomb and used to create artificial scarcity to create panic for traveller. Blusmart always reached 15-20 mins earlier than scheduled time with no hiccups and very reasonable prices, (sic)” a user, responding to the video, wrote.
BluSmart Shuts Operations
Anmol and Puneet Singh Jaggi, the founders of BluSmart, face allegations from SEBI of misusing funds meant for electric vehicle procurement, diverting approximately ₹262 crore to purchase a luxury apartment and other personal expenses. This alleged financial mismanagement, coupled with falsified records, has led to their ban from the securities market and a forensic audit of their company, Gensol Engineering.
Public Disappointment
BluSmart had slowly but surely built a reputation of being a reliable, quiet, and hassle-free alternative for passengers who had ditched their daily woes of surge prices, cancellations, and impolite drivers. They hopped onto the EV cab train only to be left disappointed when it got derailed overnight.

“As a frequent BluSmart user, the news of the service shutting down hits hard. Another service one got used to, lost to mismanagement. The clean cars, courteous drivers, and the sheer reliability of the cabs turning up at the right time, stuff that the brand had built over the years – will all be missed,” wrote X user @2shar in a post dated April 2025.
An abrupt and inglorious halt to what had become an impressive brand in recent years — excellent + reliable service, happy employees, women drivers, EV rides, clean cabs (each an exception to the norm). It's hard not to feel a sense of loss today. #BluSmart pic.twitter.com/zJQtzSanNf

What Happens To The Cars?
In May, Evera Cabs, an electric cab operator, was reported to be in the process of recovering 500 electric vehicles previously operated by BluSmart, with 220 cabs already reclaimed and 280 still awaiting retrieval.
BluSmart launched in 2019 and quickly became popular, especially among women, seniors, and working professionals.
