Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini had promised to reward Phogat as an Olympic medallist in August 2024. Haryana’s sports policy is considered one of the most generous in the country. It offers ₹6 crore to Olympic gold medallists, ₹4 crore to silver medallists, and ₹2.5 crore to bronze medallists. Vinesh Phogat and Olympic disqualification saga In Paris, Vinesh had scripted history by becoming the first Indian woman wrestler to reach an Olympic final. Unfortunately, just before the gold medal bout, she was disqualified for exceeding the 50kg weight limit by 100 grams a harsh but clear violation under international wrestling rules.
