Virat Kohli Creates History, Becomes 1st Player In IPL To Score 1000 Runs Against Four Teams

Batting superstar Virat Kohli, who is playing his 400th T20 match on Saturday (March 22), entered his name in the history books by becoming the first player in the world to score 1000 runs against four teams in the Indian Premier League. The ongoing first match of IPL 2025 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Eden Gardens in Kolkata is Kohli’s 35th IPL match against KKR, and he now has 1000 runs to his name.

Kohli, who is the all-time leading run scorer in IPL history, needed 38 runs in the match against KKR on Saturday to cross the 1000-run mark, and he achieved the objective by taking single on the fifth ball of the 10th over of the run chase bowled by Sunil Narine.
Kohli is the third player after David Warner (1093) and Rohit Sharma (1070) to score 1000 or more runs in the world’s richest franchise cricket league against the three-time IPL champions.

Kohli, who opened the innings for RCB in the 175-run chase with England wicketkeeper-batter Phil Salt (56 runs from 31 balls), has so far hammered three fours and two sixes during his stay at the crease.

In the first match of IPL 2025, RCB captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and invited KKR to bat first, after which, riding on captain Ajinkya Rahane’s 56 from 31 balls and Sunil Narine’s 44 from 26 balls, they posted a total of 174 runs on the board for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.
For RCB, all-rounder Krunal Pandya picked up three wickets for 29 runs in four overs, and two KKR batters were sent back to the pavilion by Josh Hazlewood, who conceded 22 runs in his quota of four overs.
