Indian legend Virat Kohli has slammed his record-extending 51st century in ODI cricket. Kohli reached the three-figure mark while chasing 242 against arch-rivals Pakistan in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy in Dubai. The 36-year-old shared substantial stands with Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer after India lost Rohit Sharma in the first powerplay. Kohli reached his ton by powering India to victory with a four. India made a power-packed start to their run-chase but lost skipper Rohit in the fifth over. Kohli joined Gill in the middle as the duo kept the scoreboard ticking. The latter launched his counter-attack while Kohli took his time to settle. The latter displayed his endearing cover drives while working the ball in gaps. He raced to his century off 111 balls. Kohli played a meticulous knock, having scored an unbeaten 100 off 111 balls. His knock had just 7 fours, as he focused more on strike-rotation. As mentioned, Kohli completed his ton with a boundary that sealed India's win. As mentioned, Kohli raced to his 51st century in ODI cricket. It was his first ton since November 2023 when he smacked one against New Zealand in the ICC Cricket World Cup semi-final. He has now become the first batter with more than 50 centuries in ODI cricket. Kohli also slammed his fourth ODI ton against Pakistan, the joint second-most by a batter. During his knock, Kohli also unlocked another significant achievement. With his 15th run, he completed 14,000 of those in ODI cricket. Kohli has become only the third player with this feat, joining Sachin Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara. Kohli is the fastest to 14,000 ODI runs (299 matches and 287 innings). The Indian batter is miles ahead of Tendulkar (350 innings) and Sangakkara (378 innings). Kohli overtook Ricky Ponting to become the third-highest run-scorer in international cricket. He now has 27,503 runs compared to Ponting's 27,483 across formats. Kohli raced to his 82nd international century, and he is inching closer to Tendulkar (100). The Indian batter, who has a plethora of centuries across tournaments, slammed his maiden hundred in the Champions Trophy.
