Virat Kohli took to Instagram on Wednesday (June 4) to share a post for his actor wife Anushka Sharma after Royal Challengers Bengaluru ended their 17-year-long wait for their maiden IPL title win. In the IPL 2025 final played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday (June 3), RCB defeated Punjab Kings by six runs to win the first IPL title in 18 years. Kohli, who has been associated with RCB since the first edition, top-scored in the summit clash by making 43 runs from 35 balls with the help of three fours. A day after RCB secured a memorable win over the Shreyas Iyer-led side at the world’s biggest cricket stadium, Kohli shared a post for his wife Anushka, who is a ‘Bangalore girl’. “I’ve seen it for 18 years and she’s seen it for 11. Suffered the same moments since 2014 and celebrated every close win and the madness of our supporters at the Chinnaswamy. We’re both equally relieved and since shes a bangalore girl too this is far more special for her. Together all the way through @anushkasharma,” Kohli captioned the post. The 191-run target wasn’t a big one to chase down, but PBKS, despite getting off to a good start, failed to achieve it. The win over PBKS on Tuesday helped RCB become the eighth team after Rajasthan Royals (2008), Deccan Chargers (2009), Chennai Super Kings (2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, 2023), Kolkata Knight Riders (2012, 2014, 2024), Mumbai Indians (2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2020), Sunrisers Hyderabad (2016) and Gujarat Titans (2022) to win the IPL title. Before tasting success on June 3, RCB finished as runners-up in 2009, 2011 and 2016. Kohli’s performance in IPL 2025 Kohli played all 15 matches for RCB in IPL 2025 and, with the help of eight half-centuries, scored 657 runs. He finished as the leading run getter for RCB and also broke multiple batting records during the season. The 36-year-old right-handed batter from Delhi, who was retained for Rs 21 crore by RCB ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, holds the record for scoring the most half-centuries (63) in the world’s richest franchise cricket league.
