ANN ARBOR – The Ann Arbor-area Athlete of the Week poll is back for its second installment of the spring sports season.
Twenty student-athletes have been selected as nominees for this week’s poll which spans April 14-19.
Readers will have until 9 a.m. on Friday to cast their votes before the winner is announced shortly thereafter.
Here are the candidates for this week’s poll. Please make your selections at the bottom of the story.
NOTE: This is a fan poll. It has no bearing on postseason awards and no prizes are awarded to the winner.
Samantha Bieber, Chelsea
Girls Tennis
Bieber finished 4-1 last week including back-to-back victories in a tournament on Saturday.
Ryan Boehnke, Ann Arbor Pioneer
Boehnke finished first in a dual match against Pinckney on Thursday and placed second in a five-team match on Wednesday.
Natasza Dudek, Ann Arbor Pioneer
Girls Track and Field
Dudek took first place in the 3200 at the Highland Games Invitational on Saturday with a personal best time of 10:14.70.
Dudek also won the 800 and 1600 in a tri-meet on Tuesday.
Kendyll Fell, Milan
Fell notched two victories with 15 strikeouts in addition to finishing the week with two hits and an RBI.
Donovan Fox, Whitmore Lake
Fox tallied 11 hits, three RBIs and earned a save in three games during the week.
Sydney Hastings, Saline
Hastings had three home runs, 10 hits and 11 RBIs to help Saline go 5-0 during the week.
Keating Holland, Ann Arbor Greenhills
Holland shot a 42 to finish first in a match against FGR and followed up with a 79 to medal in a five-team match on Wednesday.
Max Jenness, Milan
Jenness shot a 75 to finish tied for first place during the Huron League Jamboree on Wednesday.
Savanna Kane, Ypsilanti Lincoln
Kane earned two wins in the circle with 14 strikeouts and recorded two home runs, 10 hits and 10 RBIs in three victories.
Avery Lay, Chelsea
Lay was dominant at the plate and in the circle last week for the Bulldogs.
The senior had two home runs, seven hits and 11 RBIs to go along with four wins with a total of 30 strikeouts in five games.
Devin Lilley, Saline
Lilley drove in the game-winning runs in a win over Bedford and finished the week with five hits and three RBIs in five games. He also earned a win with six strikeouts.
Jillian Lower, Dexter
Girls Soccer
Lower scored three goals to help the Dreadnaughts top Monroe and Bedford last week.
Oskar MacArthur, Ann Arbor Skyline
Boys Track and Field
MacArthur won the 800 (2:02.62) and 1600 (4:38.67) in a tri-meet and helped the Eagles win the 1600 at the Highland Games Invitational.
Kade Mason, Ann Arbor Greenhills
Mason drove in the game-winning run to help Greenhills defeat Lincoln on Thursday and added a hit and two RBIs in the doubleheader win over Huron.
Maddie Morgan, Ann Arbor Greenhills
Girls Tennis
Morgan kept her undefeated season going by finishing the week 4-0.
Cole Novara, Dexter
Novara compiled nine hits, nine RBIs and scored 10 runs to help the Dreadnaughts go 5-0 last week.
Connor Rzeszut, Ann Arbor Skyline
Rzeszut recorded seven hits, eight RBIs in five games and secured a victory on the mound with 14 strikeouts against Huron.
Brendan Stone, Ann Arbor Pioneer
Stone finished the five-game week with seven hits and four RBIs for the Pioneers.
Siena Taylor, Dexter
Girls Tennis
Taylor was the lone Dreadnaught to go undefeated last week as the junior won all three of her matches in the No. 2 singles position.
Brian Tillman, Chelsea
Tillman finished tied for first after shooting a 71 at the PGA Reach Invitational on Thursday.
